The Nukeproof Irish National Champs were held in Rostrevor for the 2nd year in a row and with the improvements made on the track it was set to be a great weekend of racing. My main focus this season has been Enduro however I still enjoy racing Downhill so was looking forward to getting back to a DH race.
I arrived early on Saturday to walk the track and was impressed with the natural sections and improvements to the existing trail. Practice went well and I felt like I was getting up to speed towards the end of the day.
After a few more practice runs on Sunday morning it was time for racing to get underway, my seeding run was steady with no real mistakes, I came down into 3rd place knowing I could shave a few seconds off my time. A quick bite to eat and it was time for finals, I was having a great run and had one small mistake at the end, I managed to shave 3 seconds off my seeding run which secured 3rd place on the day. I was happy with my result considering my lack of time on my Downhill bike.
