The 4th round of the British Downhill Series was held in LLangollen, Wales. The track here is short and steep with some amazing turns, after track walk I was more than excited to get started.
Saturday practice was amazing, the guys at One Giant Leap Llangollen stepped it up this year with the up-lifts which ran flawlessly all weekend allowing me to get 8 runs in on the fun track. I was having so much fun in practice just hitting ruts which was all you could really do as there was only one or two sections that required any line choice. The rest of the track was just point and shoot!!
Onto my seeding run, as you could imagine I got a little carried away on the fun track and started blowing out turns and making a lot of silly mistakes. I crossed the line with a respectable time and slotted into 19th place in the Elite field. I knew I had more in the tank for finals so I checked my bike over got some food and headed up again.
My finals run was far better than seeding. I cooled it off a little on the sections that I had messed up on my seeding run and had a clean run down. I shaved a few seconds off my seeding time and this bumped me up a few positions into 15th place in the Elite men. I was happy with this result, it has been my best result in the British Series this year and defiantly a step in the right direction.
Cheers to Jacob Gibbins Photography for the shots from the weekend !
