Again we were back in Bigwood for the second round of the Chain Reaction Cycles Winter Series. This is a 1 day event and I was up on saturday again helping with setting up as it is my local club that runs it. This gave me a good chance to see the changes made to the track. The top section was different than the previous race and started straight into a nice sketchy step down over a few big rocks, then into a fast jump followed by the famous “bomb hole” and finally a nice new hip jump and a few switch backs were it then rejoined to the origional track. Big shout out to Glyn O’Brien who was the main man behind all these track changes.
Anyway back to the racing, practise felt good all day and I was getting some solid runs in. I really wanted to put in a solid race run and I couldnt complain really. I had a solid run and felt I hit all my lines pretty good. I came down into second place just 0.4 off my team mates time. I was happy tho as this was only my second race in elites after moving up from juniors a year early and Dan and I finised in 1st and 2nd around 3 seconds ahead of the next guy. This gave me a big confidence boost now going into south africa with a good result under my belt.
Next up is Innerleithan this weekend with “the crew”!! .. you know who you are.
Thanks to all my sponsors for the continous support. Nukeproof, Schwalbe, Nema , Eight.ie.
